A dining room with library. Discover the architect's secrets

The Egue and Seta study took care of the integral reform of this house and one of its architects, Mario Vila, welcomes us in the house to show us and tell us the secrets of the dining room both aesthetically and architecturally.

The house is a 50's construction located in Madrid. Has a surface of 170 m2 distributed in three heights.

The transformation has been total, starting with the ground floor, where there is a hall, kitchen, toilet, office, living room and also access to the terrace and garden.

Before the reform, the house was untouched for 60 years: old, deteriorated and dark.

The room, with abundant natural light thanks to the window with which it has and the roof skylight, is divided into several areas (living, reading or chat and dining room) and has a large library on a wall and a movie screen that is hidden from view. The decorative style is eclectic. The dining room furniture is old and recovered. Adjacent to it, a small reading area.
The lounge area recovers an old bookstore of the owners and has been located just under a skylight. The deco combines old pieces with modern furniture. The main front of the room is very simple, with the idea of not giving excessive prominence to the TV: a low cabinet and a light and narrow shelf. The secret? The movie screen that unfolds from the ceiling.
